How to Store Construction Equipment During UAE Summer Shutdown

Construction equipment stored correctly during UAE summer shutdown period

Equipment not properly stored before UAE summer shutdown requires significantly more preparation before returning to service.

All equipment — before shutdown

  • Clean all equipment thoroughly
  • Lubricate all grease points
  • Check fluid levels and top up before storage
  • Cover all equipment — shade cloth or tarpaulin at minimum

Concrete mixers

  • Clean drum completely
  • Apply grease to ring gear and pinion before covering
  • For shutdowns above 4 weeks, run the drum for 5 minutes monthly

Petrol-powered equipment

  • Drain the carburettor and run the engine until it stops
  • Change oil before storage — used oil contains acids that corrode internal surfaces

Returning to service

Check all fluid levels, inspect belts and seals, clear ventilation slots, and run briefly without load before applying full working load.

Frequently Asked

Common Questions

How should I store a concrete mixer during UAE summer shutdown?

Clean the drum thoroughly. Apply light grease to the ring gear and pinion. Store under shade. Run the drum for 5 minutes monthly during extended shutdowns.

What happens if construction equipment is left uncovered in UAE summer?

UV and 50°C+ surface temperatures degrade rubber components, belts, and seals. Cover equipment and store in shade at minimum.

Do I need to drain fuel from petrol equipment for UAE summer storage?

For shutdowns of 4+ weeks, drain the carburettor and run the engine until it stops to prevent fuel varnish deposits.
